Poker is not just about luck. The players who win consistently are those who keep learning and refining their strategy.
Pay attention to your opponents' betting patterns. How often do they raise preflop? Do they bet quickly when there's a flush draw on the board? This information is worth more than the cards in your hand.
Playing from a late position (dealer button) gives you a significant edge since you act last. Play tighter hands from early position and loosen up as you move to later positions.
Never play at a table where the minimum limit exceeds 5% of your bankroll. Good money management ensures you can keep playing even through temporary losses.
Losing several hands in a row can lead to irrational decisions. If you feel yourself getting frustrated or overly aggressive, take a short break. Your best decisions come from a clear, calm mind.
Before calling, calculate whether the mathematical odds support your decision. If the pot odds are better than your chances of completing your hand, calling is the mathematically sound play.
A good bluff has a consistent narrative. Don't bluff just because you want to win the pot. Choose situations where the community board supports the story you've been building throughout that hand.
